Vita Verde organic extra virgin olive oil from olive groves on the Peloponnese peninsula around Sparta, tastes light, mildly fruity and is a real treat.
Greek Koroneiki olives We only use Koroneiki olives ripened black on the tree to produce this single-variety oil.
The Koroneiki olive is typical of the steep slopes of the Peloponnese and, due to its composition, is also considered the best basis for an excellent olive oil in terms of flavour. In addition, the Greek Koroneiki olive is characterised by a high proportion of valuable unsaturated fatty acids. These olives are an easy-to-cultivate variety that has been cultivated since time immemorial.
In recent decades, we have been able to win over a steadily growing number of olive growers in the Peloponnese in favour of our high quality and harvest criteria. All the groves are close together and are located at an altitude of over 500 metres, which is why the fruit ripens more slowly, receives many hours of sunshine and is therefore firmer and tastier.
Hand-harvesting olives We leave the olives to ripen on the tree and harvest them gently by hand only in winter, i.e. December and January, using traditional methods. No vacuum harvesters or similar machines are used during the harvest to protect the birds. After harvesting, the olives are immediately processed in the oil mill. The freshly pressed olive oil can then rest for a while until the suspended matter has settled. Only then is the olive oil bottled, unfiltered, around March.
Greek organic olive oil in the kitchen Our high-quality organic extra virgin Peloponnese olive oil can be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen, but also in the bakery. For example, it is ideal for braising, stewing or frying. Vita Verde extra virgin Peloponnese olive oil can also be used as a substitute for butter in baking, for example. However, it loses its raw food quality. Unheated, with salads and antipasti or drizzled over a dish at the end, it unfolds its full quality and the wonderful mild, fruity, light flavour! Vita Verde organic olive oil is available in two other sizes. For everyday use, the 500 ml bottle or the 3000 ml canister for stockpiling.
